Chapter 9 summary

Cole is still laying on the ground with a lot of pain. He sees a mother bird feeding the baby birds and says that if he was the mother bird he would just leave them, because he didn't owe them anything. He wanted the at.óow really much, because it protected him against the cold. Cole against sees the Spirit Bear and is worried that the bear might kill him. later, he sees a fallen trees and realizes that the baby birds were in there. He was curious what happened to the baby birds.

Chapter 8 summary

Cole then trows the spear to the bear. The bear was then on him very quick. It was a heavy battle and at the end the bear won and walked away. Cole was badly injured and he could only move his left arm and his head. After this he feels powerless and can't do anything.

Chapter 7 summary

Back at the island, Cole sees the Spirit Bear again. This time, he prepares a spear and finds a charred knife on the ground. When he was done, the bear was gone again. However, he finds a fish for dinner. The next day, he sees the Spirit Bear, when he was checking the tide level. He walked to it and whispered: ''you're dead.''

Chapter 6 summary

In this chapter, Cole again thinks back to the hearing circle. He and his father had an argument while Cole didn't had the feather. The Keeper gave the feather to Cole and he said that his father was lying. Cole passed     the feather on to his mom, but she is afraid to say something. Then the feather was given to Peter's mom and she told that Peter has now coordination and speech problems. Peter also wakes up screaming, because he has nightmares. She really wants that Cole's goes into jail. Then the feather was given to Peter and the only thing he said was:''I think someone should smash Cole's head against a sidewalk so he knows how it feels.''
